Kevin Dietz Named Permanent Midday Host at WJR-AM
Former WDIV-TV (Detroit) reporter Kevin Dietz, who has been hosting the 9 a.m. to noon slot on WJR-AM (Detroit) since June 1, has been named permanent host for the time slot. He replaces longtime WJR personality Frank Beckmann, who retired in March. Dietz made the announcement this past Tuesday on his Facebook page.
Dietz began his journalism career in 1988 at WPBN-TV in Traverse City and went on to work at WLNS-TV in Lansing and WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids before joining WDIV as an investigative reporter in 1993. During his 26 years at the station he won 17 Emmys. In January of 2020, he was named host of “News Now with Kevin Dietz” in WADL-TV (Detroit).
He graduated from Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills in 1983 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1987.
