Reece Cole Joins WXMI-TV Weather Team
WXMI-TV (Grand Rapids) has announced that Meteorologist Reece Cole has joined the station as the newest member of the Fox 17 Weather Team. Reece made his on-air debut during Sunday’s (1/16) 10 p.m. newscast. He will appear on-air weekend evenings and some newscasts during the week.
Cole joins the station from KSWO-TV in Lawton, OK, where he was a part-time meteorologist fellow while attending the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in meteorology.
He grew up in the Gun Lake area of Michigan’s Barry County and attended Thornapple Kellogg High School. His first professional experience was a virtual internship with WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) in mid-2021. He joined KSWO in September 2021. Cole says that he gained his passion for weather when he was 7, watching a story on The Weather Channel about a tornado, “I had a dream about it that night and became instantly addicted to knowing everything about the weather.”
