WOOD-TV Welcomes New Sports Reporter/Weekend Anchor

Marlee Wierda

Nexstar’s WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) has announced that Marlee Wierda joined the station as a Sports Reporter and Weekend Sports Anchor.  She began her new position last month.  Wierda previously was the Weekend Sports Anchor at sister Nexstar station WCIA-TV in Champaign, IL.

Prior to joining WCIA, Wierda interned for the Florida Panthers NHL Team, where she worked with the Game Presentation and Communications departments. She has also played a role in the coverage of two Olympic games, freelancing for both the 2016 and 2018 Olympics at NBC Sports’ headquarters in Stamford, CT. She was also involved with Ithaca College’s affiliated cable television station where she served as a Sports Reporter/Anchor covering a number of Ithaca College and Cornell University Sports.

Wierda is a 2018 graduate of Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science in Radio and Television.
