WKAR Holds Centennial Anniversary Ceremony

On August 18, 1922, WKAR first took to the air waves as an AM radio station, broadcasting agricultural news and information from Michigan State University.
On Thursday, the station celebrated its centennial anniversary with a ceremony in Studio A. Attendees heard remarks from Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D., MSU President, Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D., MSU Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Paula Kerger, PBS President and CEO, John F. Lansing, NPR President and CEO, Patrick Butler, APTS President and CEO, Patricia de Stacy Harrison, Corporation for Public Broadcasting President and CEO, and other community leaders.
On Saturday (8/20), WKAR is opening its doors to the public from 10:00 a.m. - 2 p.m. offering station tours.
