Women of WLNS help Habitat for Humanity Build a Home
May 19, 2023
On May 15, women staffers from Nexstar's WLNS-TV (Lansing) spent a day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to help build a home for future local homeowner Brittni Perry. Anchors Sheri Jones, Chivon Kloepfer and Kiyerra Lake were joined by other female staff from the station, including VP/GM Marci Daniels, in assisting other Habitat for Humanity volunteers construct the new home.
Part of Habitat’s mission “is partnering with others to accelerate and broaden access to affordable housing as a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty,” according to the non-profit’s website.
The project was part of Habitat for Humanity's "Women Builds" initiative, a nationwide project that provides opportunities for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities. Women Build opportunities are available across the U.S., and any woman who wants to learn how to build or repair a home is invited to join. No experience is necessary to lend a hand.
