Diane Phillips Joins WNEM-TV
July 28, 2023
Gray Television's WNEM-TV (Bay City-Saginaw) has announced that Diane Phillips has joined the station's First Alert Weather Team as their new meteorologist. Phillips comes to WNEM after spending two years at WTOL-TV (Toledo, OH).
Phillips graduated from Central Michigan University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in meteorology and a minor in mathematics. While at CMU, she forecast the weather for the campus TV station, News Central 34. Before graduating, she completed an internship with WLNS-TV in Lansing. She spent three years at WLNS as weekend meteorologist.
She is both an MAB and Associated Press award recipient and was nominated for an Emmy award for severe storm coverage. In 2021, Phillips was awarded my seal from the American Meteorological Society, making her a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.
As a side-note, WNEM posted on their Facebook page that with the addition of Phillips, all four members of its First Alert Weather Team are graduates of Central Michigan University!
