WDIV-TV Gives “Toys for Tots” a Boost in Detroit
November 17, 2023
This past Tuesday (11/14), Graham Media's WDIV-TV in Detroit hosted their annual "Help Me Hank" drive for "Toys for Tots." This year, the station filled two trucks with donations from viewers, all of which will go to benefit children this holiday season. The effort, let by WDIV's Hank Winchester and supported by dozens of station staffers, was deemed the most successful yet.
Winchester commented, "We did better this year. People really understand. There's a need to help so many kids (more than 30,000) in our area and the viewers really stepped up."
The all-day long event began at 6:00 a.m. and ran through 6:30 p.m. at the Somerset Collection in Troy with live cut-ins throughout the day.
WDIV VP/GM Bob Ellis remarked, "What we're about is serving the people of Detroit and there's unfortunately going to be people this Christmas that don't have the means to make it a holiday for their kids."
