Tim Kochenderfer

Scripps Media's Detroit cluster WXYZ-TV and WMYD-TV announced the names of those filling two positions on their staff this week.  Tim Kochenderfer has been promoted from Assistant News Director to the role of News Director.  Kochenderfer is a Murrow Award/13-time Emmy Award winning Assistant News Director, as well as a published and internationally produced playwright. With 24 years of large market television news experience, he has received numerous honors from the Society of Professional Journalists, The Associated Press, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

Kochenderfer is a 21+ year veteran of the station, starting as a producer in 2002, moving up to Executive Producer in 2014.  He became Senior Executive Producer in 2018 before being appointed Assistant News Director in 2022.  His 22 published plays have been performed in every state and around the world. His work appears in a number of anthologies.

Returning to the Scripps Detroit is Dan Clark, this time as Senior Director of Sales.  Clark originally joined the stations as an Account Executive in 2012 and was promoted to Local Sales Manager in 2017.  He then took a corporate role at Scripps as Senior Director of Category Growth and Revenue Development in late 2023.

Prior to WXYZ/WMYD, Clark as an Account Executive with WDIV-TV (Detroit).  He is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
