WOOD-TV Hosts Rogers-Slotkin Senate Debate

This past Tuesday (10/8), Nexstar Media's WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) hosted the first debate between U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D) and former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R), the top two candidates for U.S. Senator from Michigan. The hour-long debate originated from the WOOD-TV studios and aired on a number of stations throughout the state, including Nexstar sister WLNS-TV (Lansing), WDIV-TV (Detroit), WJRT-TV (Flint), WWTV/WWUP (Cadillac) and WJMN-TV (Marquette). The debate was also seen nationally on News Nation.
Rogers and Slotkin discussed a range of issues including housing, social security, the conflict in Gaza, electric vehicles and much more. WOOD-TV political reporter Rick Albin served as debate moderator
“As Your Local Election Headquarters, WOOD-TV will host the top two candidates for the open U.S. Senate seat from Michigan,” said WOOD TV8 Vice President and General Manager Julie Brinks prior to the broadcast. “With our sister station in Lansing and broadcast partners across the state, we’re committed to keeping voters throughout Michigan informed and ahead of the curve when it comes to electing our leaders.”
This Monday evening, Scripps Media's WXYZ-TV (Detroit) will host another live debate between the two candidates. The broadcast will be seen on WXYZ as well as partner stations WXMI-TV (Grand Rapids), WSYM-TV (Lansing), WLUC-TV (Marquette), WNMU-TV (Marquette) and WZMQ-TV (Marquette).
