Brian Trauring Retires from Lilly Broadcasting
November 1, 2024
After more than 50 years in broadcasting, Brian Trauring has announced that he will be retiring from Lilly Broadcasting. As Executive Vice President, Trauring had the "remarkable privilege and experience of helping launch WZMQ-TV in Marquette as a CBS affiliate in 2020."
As part of the launch and rebranding, the company bought and remodeled a building, hired a staff and within 10 months began presenting local news from historic downtown Marquette. Even more remarkable, Trauring is proud of the station's "Best Newscast" award from the MAB only a few months after launch.
Previously, Trauring spent 16 years serving viewers in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan as News Director at WTVG-TV in Toledo. He tells the MAB that "the experience of meeting people in Michigan's Upper Peninsula was definitely a career highlight. Thanks to the MAB and the Yoopers for making me feel so welcome and supporting our new station!"
Scott MacDowell has been appointed as Lilly Broadcasting's new Corporate News Director.
