Erika Erickson Joins WDIV-TV
November 1, 2024
Former WJBK-TV (Detroit) reporter Erika Erickson, who left broadcast journalism in 2021 has reportedly returning to television news as a general assignment reporter for WDIV-TV.
On the station's website, Erickson writes, “I will be seeing you soon reporting for @local4news! I could say so much because it has been a bit of a rough road, but for now — thank you to all who have continued to support me. I hope to support you back in the best way I know how: by staying grounded, healthy, and getting back to what I love to do: fighting for you and telling your stories. See you all very soon!"
Erika is originally from Canton Township, and graduated from Wayne State University. Erickson began her new role as a general assignment reporter at WDIV-TV on Monday, according to the station's news director, Jennifer Wallace. She left WJBK after eight years due to health reasons in November 2021. She was originally hired at WJBK after working in Traverse City for three years.
She left to work as the director of communications for the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and later worked PR for Henry Ford Health. Her television exit followed her diagnosis with cervicogenic headaches, a form of headache that starts in the neck and can cause severe pain.
