MSU’s Impact 89FM Named National College Radio Station of the Year

Impact 89 staff at the CBI Awards

Impact 89FM/ WDBM-FM (East Lansing), Michigan State University's student-run radio station and media organization, is has announced that it has been named the National College Radio Station of the Year in the Pinnacle Awards presented by the College Media Association. This is Impact 89FM's second time winning the award. The radio station previously received the honor in 2021. The organization has also been recognized with the first-place award for the National College Broadcast Station Website of the Year.

Additionally, the radio station received Pinnacle Awards in individual categories:

  • Second Place: College Media Association: Best Game Story
    Michigan State football outlasts Nebraska on Senior Day, snaps six-game losing streak
  • Second Place: Best Audio Promo/PSA

Pity Party

  • Third Place: Best Audio Talk/Entertainment Program

Exposure: State of Fifths

  • Honorable Mention: Best Audio Newscast

The awards were presented at the Fall National College Media Convention in New Orleans from October 30-November 2, 2024.

Impact 89FM also had award winners in the National Student Production Awards presented by College Broadcasters Inc.

  • First Place: Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Program

  • Second Place: Best Social Media Presence

The awards were presented at the National Student Media Convention in Seattle on October 26, 2024.

Work was broadcast in the Lansing area on 88.9 FM and published online through Impact 89FM's website at impact89fm.org and social media channels.
