Ave Maria Expands Its Michigan Footprint into Lansing

Ave Maria Communications has filed a deal to purchase religious WLCM-AM (Holt/Lansing) Jon Yinger’s Christian Broadcasting System. Ave Maria, which specializes in Catholic radio programming is based in Ann Arbor and currently owns WDEO-AM (Ypsilanti), WMAX-AM (Bay City), plus three FM translators in the state. The company also owns five non-commercial FM stations in Ohio.

WLCM operates on 1390kHz with 5kw day, 4.5kw night.  The purchase price for the facility is a reported $250,000, plus an option to acquire the station's related real estate for an additional $200,000.  Under the terms of the deal, Ave Maria will have a right of first refusal to acquire the station’s related real estate for an additional $200,000.

Christian Broadcasting System will still own stations in Flint, Cincinnati, OH; Albany, NY and Lexington, KY.  The company has owned WLCM since 1992.
