Former WDET Program Director Judy Adams Passes

Former WDET Program Director and host Judy Adams has passed away at age 75.  Adams died December 24 after battling an illness. Adams spent more than 30 years at WDET, serving for most of them as PD. She hosted a program on the station called Morphogenesis and later, The Judy Adams Program.  Adams left the station in 2005.

After that, she went on to become producer and host at CJAM (Windsor).  Adams also worked as a guest host at WRCJ-FM (Detroit) and a jazz blogger for the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe.

In a station website article, WDET General Manager Mary Zatina called her “a force with an infectious smile,” adding that Adams played a pivotal role in bringing diverse and eclectic music to WDET’s airwaves.

“Music knowledge in taste in WDET listeners was shaped and inspired by Judy’s early embrace of emerging musicians and world music,” said WDET Program Director Adam Fox. “Many of the current WDET hosts were inspired and hired by Judy.”
