The Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame Names 11 New Inductees

The Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame has named 11 new inductees including Cynthia Canty, former "Stateside" host (2012-2019) on Michigan Public and Jam Sardar, News Director at WLNS-TV (Lansing).
Canty, who retired from Michigan Public in 2019, has served as a popular radio host, television news anchor, producer, and as a general assignment, medical, and consumer reporter. She was a news anchor and morning show personality at Detroit radio stations WNIC-FM, WDTX-FM and WMGC-FM. Throughout the 1990s, she was on WKBD-TV in the roles of news anchor, reporter and public affairs host & producer.
Sardar has been at WLNS-TV since 2008 and was promoted to News Director in 2009. He was also a correspondent for the Comcast Network in Philadelphia, a reporter for WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids), reporter/fill-in anchor at WILX-TV (Lansing) and an anchor/reporter at WLFI-TV in West Lafayette, Indiana.

- Cindy Goodaker: Former executive editor at Crain's Detroit Business
- Daymon J. Hartley: Former Detroit Free Press photojournalist
- Dorothy Jurney: Former Detroit Free Press women's page editor who was later promoted to assistant managing editor. She came to the Freep in 1959.
- Keith Owens: Former politics and music journalist at the Detroit Free Press and Michigan Chronicle.
- Pat Rencher: Advocated for older readers’ health
- David Zeman: Editor of high-impact journalism
The 2025 Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing on Sunday, April 13.
