WYTZ St. Jude Radiothon Sets New Fundraising Record
February 23, 2024
The event raised more than $45,000 with the help of Y-Country listeners in Southwest Michigan. Listeners became ‘Parners in Hope’, pledging $19 a month to further research, provide care for children battling cancer, and ti help ensure their families never get a bill for care at St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The hospital in Memphis, Tennessee was opened by entertainer and TV producer Danny Thomas in 1962. Since then, childhood cancer survival rates have reached 80 %. His mission for St. Jude was to find cures and to save children, believing “No child should die in the dawn of life.”
97.5 Y-Country WYTZ is one of more than 300 Country radio stations that conduct ‘Country Cares for Kids’ radiothon events that have raised more than 800 million dollars for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
