Midwest Communications Adds WZUU and WQXC to Kalamazoo Cluster

michigan digitalMidwest Communications has announced that it is expanding in the Kalamazoo market with the purchase of WQXC-FM (Allegan) and WZUU-FM (Mattawan) for a reported $625,000.  The stations are currently owned by Forum Communications, headed by Robert P. Brink who is 50/50 partners with Deborah A. Whiteman.

Forum has owned WQXC since 1985 and acquired WZUU in 1997.  WQXC is a class A FM on 100.9 with 3kw ERP at 100 meters.  WZUU is also a class A FM, operating on 92.5 with 4.7kw ERP at 111 meters.

WZUU will join current Midwest stations in the market, including WZOX-FM. WNWN-FM, WVFM-FM, WKZO-AM, WTOU-AM. and WFAT-AM. The WQXC/WZUU transfer application was filed September 6.
