Latitude Media’s Bob & Laurie Peters Honored by Rotary

October 4, 2024

(L-R) Rotary Representative, Laurie Peters, Bob Peters.

As part of their organization's 100th year of service, the Rotary Club of Mt. Pleasant has chosen to recognize Bob & Laurie Peters of locally-owned Latitude Media with the Paul Harris Fellow Honors for the month of September.  The goal is to highlight exceptional community members who show servant leadership in all that they do.

In a social media post, the club writes that the impact that Bob and Laurie have on the community through their vast involvement and through their reach at Latitude Media is immense. "In case you do not know, Bob and Laurie own Latitude Media LLC – including My 1043 (WCZY-FM) and Buck 92 (WMMI-AM) radio stations, and My Michigan Matters Podcast."

"The Rotary Auction would not be what it is for us today without the radio! And we have Bob and Laurie and their station to thank for that. The list of community impact from Bob and Laurie goes on and on. They are to thank for the annual Boo Bash, the Hometown Showdown, Fill A Mayflower food drive (now called Feed the Need), Backyard Brawl, promoting local nonprofits and events on the radio and through their podcast, and broadcasting high school sports."

"For the Fill a May Flower Food drive (now Feed the Need) Bob (and team) are able to garner so much support to battle food insecurity in our community. Bob makes it his mission to ensure sure that our pantries shelves are stocked each fall. The annual one-day community food drive has an amazing impact. Last year, 9,178 items were collected and $9720 was raised – that is nearly a $20,000 impact!"

On top of their amazing initiatives at the station, Laurie Peters serves on the Community Cancer Services Board of Directors as well as the scholarship committee at the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation.  She is a past Brownie troop leader and the best Marine Mom to all who serve. Bob’s local service includes membership on the Mt. Pleasant Chamber Board of directors, on the Great Lakes Bay Michigan, Works Workforce Development board and co-chair of their Career Education Advisory committee.  He is a past Michigan Association of Broadcasters Board Member and has been involved with so much in the community such as the Mt. Pleasant Summer Festival, the Red Cross, the Lion’s Club, and the Pillars of the Community.

The Rotary concludes by asking the community to join them in congratulating and thanking Bob & Laurie for all they do!
