WKLT’s Mari Dew Found Safe After North Carolina Flooding
October 4, 2024
Inside Radio reported this week at Mari Dew, morning co-host at Midwestern Broadcasting's WKLT-FM (Traverse City) has been found safe after surviving the floods in Western North Carolina. Dew was in the Asheville area when Hurricane Helene arrived. She had not been heard from since Friday (9/27) with co-workers, family, friends and listeners concerned for her safety.
Dew is part of the “Omelette & Finster” morning show on the station and the program had been posting messages on social media hoping she would be found. We still have not heard from her at the time of this post. I’m still confident that she is fine and we’ll hear from her very soon... but as each hour goes by, it gets more real,” the show wrote on Facebook on Monday morning.
On Tuesday (10/1), an update from Dew was posted to Facebook. “We got this video from Mari!” the update read. In the video, she explained that she had food and water but no cell service. Dew said the road to her cabin was washed out by the storm and has not yet reopened.
