February 14, 2025

STR LogoIn an application filed January 31, Grand Rapids-based Mitten News, LLC, owned by John Yob is donating WWMN-AM (Petoskey) to non-profit West Central Michigan Media Ministries.  WWMN formerly held the longtime call letters WJML until swapping calls in early December with a co-owned FM licensed to Thompsonville.

Mitten News retains WJNL-AM (Kingsley), WJML-FM (Thompsonville), WHAK-AM (Rogers City) and translator W266CS (Traverse City).  The company sold what is now WSBX-FM (Mackinaw City) in 2023.

West Central Michigan Media Ministries, based in Cadillac, adds WWMN to its growing profile of broadcast properties both in and outside of Michigan.  West Central's network of stations operates under the "Strong Tower Radio" name.

WWMN operates on 1110 kHz with 10,000 watts day and 100 watts night.  West Central has filed to convert the WWMN license to non-commercial status.
