Longtime Sanilac Broadcasting Sports Director Passes Away

Sandusky-based Sanilac Broadcasting (WMIC-AM/WBGV-FM/WTGV-FM) has shared the news that long-time dedicated announcer. Norton Schramm, who was Sports Director at that stations for nearly 40 years, passed away on last Saturday (2/22/25).
Mr. Schramm served the Deckerville Community School system in a number of capacities—as a teacher, coach and athletic director.
He was a former member of the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners, and was board chairman for a number of terms. At the end of last year he completed 13 years as a Sandusky City Council member.
Schramm broadcasted hundreds of high school football, basketball and baseball games for WMIC, WTGV and WBGV. Most notable were numerous Deckerville football championships, the Peck Lady Pirates Class D state basketball championship in 1986 and the Sandusky girls Class C state basketball championship game in 1999. He did morning sports on WMIC, as well as the Saturday morning sports program, “SportsLine” for decades.
As a coach, Norton Schramm led the Deckerville Lady Eagles to many league and district championships, as well as a regional championship. Last June, he ended a long tenure as the executive secretary for the Greater Thumb conference.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sandusky United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
