As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, Detroit public radio station WDET-FM is increasing its local programming, increasing its locally-hosted music shows, and revamping its schedule beginning Feb. 5, 2024.

Veteran Detroit journalist Elisha Anderson has joined the team here at Detroit Public TV as managing editor of journalism. President and CEO Rich Homberg stated, “Elisha brings verve, multimedia storytelling and two decades of exemplary experience to the role.”

Michigan Radio, the state’s largest NPR news outlet, is rebranding and changing its name to Michigan Public. The rebrand reflects the station’s goal of meeting people where they are: on the radio, online, on mobile devices, on-demand and in-person at events. This name change was effective Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

On Tuesday, January 23, Michigan Radio will present its next Radio Speaker Series event, this time featuring NPR Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! host Peter Sagal  Sagal will be interviewed by Stateside host April Baer.  They’ll discuss what it takes to do a show like “Wait Wait,” his favorite guests, how they keep it funny every week and more.

WGVU Public Media (Grand Rapids) has announced that Ira Glass, creator and host of public radio’s This American Life is coming to DeVos Performance Hall on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 8 p.m. Glass will share his “Seven Things I’ve Learned,” a live performance that covers his career in seven points.
