Cher Allen Memorial Broadcasting Scholarship

One $1,000 Scholarship Awarded

Cherryl "Cher" Lynn Allen was a long-time employee of WBKB-TV (Alpena). Over the course of 35 years, Allen worked in many positions at WBKB-TV, retiring as the general manager.

Cher was an active member of the MAB, having served on several committees and was a regular attendee at conferences.

A scholarship given in her name was established by her longtime friend and station owner Stephen Marks. This scholarship will be awarded to an individual whose desire it is to enter into broadcast management.

Applications will begin to be accepted in fall 2025. Applicants must have at least one semester of school remaining at their respective institution beyond the spring 2026 semester (no graduating seniors). They must be studying broadcast, media at a Michigan college, university, or trade school.
