In keeping with its mission to help prepare children for their educational futures, the Michigan Education Trust (MET) joined WYSM-TV (Lansing) and the Scripps Howard Fund Monday (3/4) in delivering free books to a Lansing elementary school.

The transmitter building for WCMU Public Media’s Alpena-based satellite stations (WCML-FM/TV) was labeled a complete loss after a fire this past Wednesday (2/28). On February 22, the FCC released an Order reinstating the requirement for radio and television broadcasters, commercial and noncommercial, to annually file an FCC Form 395-B. All station employment groups with 5 or more full-time employees would need to classify all station employees, both full-time and part-time, by race or ethnicity and gender, as well as by the type of job they perform at the station.
In the past week, the FCC has proposed some updates to the current EAS system. On Wednesday (2/21), Radio World reported that FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel is proposing adding a new event code to the EAS system for missing and endangered persons. This would be those who would not qualify for an Amber Alert.
