The board of directors of NPR announced Wednesday (1/24) that it has selected Katherine Maher to become its next president and chief executive officer. Katherine Maher has spent her career at the intersection of democracy, human rights, information, and technology.

The full Commission this week issued an Order fining Cumulus Media $26,000 for its failure to upload one EEO Annual Public File Report to its online public inspection file until about 9 months after the due date.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced that she will deliver her sixth State of the State Address on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. The address will be held in the Michigan House Chambers in front of a joint session of the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Senate and broadcast live throughout the state.
Michigan Radio, the state’s largest NPR news outlet, is rebranding and changing its name to Michigan Public. The rebrand reflects the station’s goal of meeting people where they are: on the radio, online, on mobile devices, on-demand and in-person at events. This name change was effective Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
This past December, the FCC opened a filing window for new Low-Power FM (LPFM) stations nationwide. All-in-all, 1,336 applications for the non-commercial service were filed with the FCC December 6-13, 2023. This includes 32 applications within the State of Michigan.
