Inside Radio reports that as part of the ongoing campaign to reverse Ford Motor Company’s decision to remove AM radio from most new and updated models in 2024, eight House Representatives in Ford’s home state of Michigan have sent a letter to its board of directors making a case for keeping the legacy band in cars.
The National Association of Broadcasters has announced the results of the 2023 NAB Radio and Television Board of Directors elections. The two-year terms of the elected board members will begin in June 2023. Of note is the appointment of longtime Michigan broadcaster (and 2016 Michigan Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement Award recipient) Julie Koehn.

Spring Arbor University’s WJKN-FM (Spring Arbor) has announced that Vonda Hogle has been named afternoon host on the station, placing Bryce Beenyhoff, who left to pursue other opportunities. Hogle brings with her many years of radio experience with positions at WYSZ-FM (Toledo, OH) and WPOS (Holland, OH).

Black Diamond Broadcasting is pleased to announce that long-time morning host on Rock 105 & 95.5, Brian “Cartman” Pfeifer, has been promoted to the position of Program Director for Black Diamond’s Traverse City, MI based Rock 105 & 95.5 and Classic Rock the Bear.
“We have identified a need for broadcast engineers in [Michigan],” MAB President and CEO Sam Klemet said. “We are looking to get a new pipeline of engineers, and we have been working with Ferris to bring those that are in the broadcast engineering industry to talk to students and provide sample curriculums.”
