WNMU Public Media and WLUC-TV Team Up on Candidate Forum

September 27, 2024

In their first meeting together, the two candidates vying to become the Central Upper Peninsula’s representative in Lansing squared off in a pre-recorded, one-hour forum presented by WNMU Public Media (Marquette) and WLUC-TV (Marquette). “The Michigan House of Representatives 109th District Candidate Forum” is expected to put the candidates and their positions in front of more voters than any other event this year.

WXMI-TV Names Jace Larson Senior Director of News

Larson brings 19 years of reporting experience, and several years as a journalism leader to his new role at Scripps. Currently, he serves as a director of newsgathering at Scripps News, overseeing the general assignment reporting team. He previously managed teams within the Scripps Local-National operation before it merged with Scripps News.

The MAB is sad to share the word that former WLEW (Bad Axe) News Director Craig Routzahn , a trusted newsman and fixture on Huron County radio for more than four decades, passed away September 16 at the age of 68.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
